CIE 48, Computers & Industrial Engineering: 2 - 5 Dec 2018: Call for Papers

The 48th International Conference on Computers & Industrial Engineering (CIE 48), is scheduled to be held in Auckland, New Zealand during 2-5 December 2018. Attached the Call for Papers for this conference. The conference theme is “Next Generation Industrial and Manufacturing Technologies”.

Please note the deadline for Submission of special sessions proposal, 15 June 2018, and for papers/abstracts, 30 September 2018. 

Extended versions of some selected papers will be published in a special issue of Computers and Industrial Engineering following the rigorous review process of the journal. Publication in other SCI-indexed international journals is also arranged. 

The city, Auckland, and indeed the whole country of New Zealand, are some of the most attractive places to visit. You will find many places of interest, in addition to the city’s beautiful scenery.

Lean Summit Africa 2018: 30 Oct - 1 Nov 2018

The Lean Summit Africa 2018 is the 9th Summit hosted by the Lean Institute Africa. The Summit brings local and international speakers together with lean practitioners from across Africa. Their collective experience of lean implementation is unparalleled in Africa. Refer to the attached invite. 

Lean Summit Africa 2018 will take place at The Vineyard Hotel in Cape Town on 30 October - 1November 2018. The Summit theme is Transforming Organisations and Lives Through Purpose-Process-People and the keynote speakers are Furuhashi, International Lean Practitioner (Japan), Kim Barnas, President of Catalysis, Healthcare Improvement Centre (USA), and David Brunt, CEO of Lean Enterprise Academy (UK). Previous speakers have included Jim Womack, Dan Jones, John Shook, Mike Rother and Michael Ballé.

At the Summit, the latest lean thinking and practice in both the private and public sectors will be presented alongside case studies from across South Africa. The Summit aims to present lean management to those who are new to it and inspire and motivate those already using lean management in their organisations.

We cordially invite our IE professionals to the 29th Annual Conference of the Southern African Institute for Industrial Engineering, the premier conference of industrial engineering and related disciplines on the African continent. The conference gives industry, organisations, academics, and government the opportunity to showcase cutting edge practice and research. Delegates will benefit from networking opportunities to exchange ideas, to gain insight from peers and to engage with the most up to date thinking in industrial engineering.

Besides these personal growth opportunities, delegates will earn CPD points for attending the conference. Peer-reviewed papers will be published in the conference proceedings, earning publication credits. The best papers will be reviewed and published as full journal papers in a special edition of the ISI-listed South African Journal of Industrial Engineering, without further editing required.

Abstracts are invited for both the FULL PAPER and ABSTRACTS ONLY tracks. Academic and Industry submissions are encouraged for both tracks. Once the abstracts have been accepted, you have the option to submit a full paper. All papers will be subjected to a double-blind peer review process in accordance with the requirements of the Department of higher Education and Training.
