The SAIIE Council is happy to announce the 2010 SAIIE conference! As in 2009, this will also be a peer-reviewed conference and delegates are offered two tracks for submission of papers: the applied engineering track and the academic track. Papers submitted for the applied engineering track will be approved on submission of the abstract only. Papers submitted for the academic track will be approved by peer review on submission of the full paper, and published in the conference proceedings.
Here are a few great reasons why you should attend the 2010 SAIIE Conference:
- Industry experts and keynote speakers will share their experience and knowledge in Innovation;
- You can benchmark current best practice in the manufacturing and resources sectors;
- Top academics will showcase current research and ideas;
- You have the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals in your sector;
- Young professionals and students will learn more of the profession;
- You earn CPD points;
- The colloquia offer opportunity for peer discussion on relevant topics;
- It offers an opportunity for publication by peer-review in your discipline; and
- You contribute to the future development of Industrial Engineering in South Africa.
Date and Venue
The exact dates of the conference will be announced as soon as a venue has been booked, but we plan it for the middle of October.
Regarding the venue, we would appreciate the input of the SAIIE members. There are 2 possibilities, and we would like you to vote for one of the options. Please send your choice in an e-mail to Thereza at
thereza@technoscene.co.za:
Option 1: A bush venue
We have tentatively booked a venue in Hazyview, Mpumalanga. Delegates will travel there on the Sunday and attend the conference from Monday to Wednesday. Apart from accommodation at the hotel, there are many options for accommodation in guest houses and self-catering units close to the venue. A visit to the Kruger National Park will also form part of the programme.
Option 2: A venue in greater Gauteng
In this case we will look for a venue close to Johannesburg.
If you have any other suggestions to make the 2010 conference a memorable one again, you are welcome to send your ideas and proposals to Thereza.
We look forward to your input and attendance!
