SENIOR LECTURER IN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING – OPERATIONS RESEARCH and BUSINESS ANALYTICS
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
At the Senior Lecturer Level, a PhD is essential. The successful candidate will have a record of scholarship/teaching and be research active in Operations Research and Business Analytics. S/he will conduct and supervise research at all levels. The successful candidate will have a proven record of interactions with industry and the profession. A record of substantial research funding will be advantageous.
The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of the basic material relevant to an undergraduate in Operations Research and Business Analytics programme, and the background to be able to be registered as a Professional Engineer, if not already registered in South Africa.
Research activity in areas such as data science, machine learning and business analytics, with experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, will be a distinct advantage. Teaching activities may include operations research, discrete-event simulation, machine learning.
Contributions towards excellence in research, education and professional services; academic leadership in the field of Industrial Engineering; undergraduate and postgraduate lecturing; research leadership and project supervision; active engagement with industrial partners; University administration.
