We are excited to announce the 2010 conference details!
Theme: Sustaining South Africa's Global Competitiveness after 2010
Venue: Glenburn Lodge, Muldersdrift, Gauteng
Date: 6-8 October 2010
South Africa's Global Competitiveness is in the news daily. Thanks to the 2010 FIFA soccer world cup, South Africa invested in a number of large capital project developments, contributing to the economic activity in the engineering profession. However, what will happen after 2010? How will we ensure that South Africa remains competitive?
As in 2009, this conference will again allow for two submission tracks:
- Academic Papers: Authors submit an abstract, and is then invited to submit a full-length paper. The paper will be peer-reviewed for final acceptance. The paper is published in the conference proceedings and on the conference website. This is the best option for academics and students who are expected to generate research outputs.
- Applied Engineering: Presenters submit an abstract, and when the abstract is approved, the presenter is invited to present at the conference. No papers to be written, but the presenter is expected to provide the finale presentation for upload to the conference website archive afterwards. This is the best option for engineers from the industry who would like to share their experiences with other delegates.
Access the conference website to get more information, register or submit an abstract.
(SAIIE members - please log in with your SAIIE member number and SAIIE password - this will ensure that you receive discount for the conference registration)

As the name implies, the field of Industrial Engineering deals with the engineering of industrial undertakings. Modern Industrial Engineering is concerned with the integration of resources and processes into cohesive strategies, structures and systems for the effective and efficient production of quality goods and services.
It draws upon specialised knowledge and skills in the mathematical, physical, behavioural, economic and management sciences and fuses them with the principles and methods of engineering analyses and design to find optimal and practical solutions, which contribute to the success and prosperity of an industrial undertaking, thereby making a fundamental contribution to the creation of wealth.
Our vision is to be a vibrant, learned society, representing and promoting all Industrial Engineers in Southern Africa. |
